David Justin Miller - How To Get The Most Out Of Your Lessons

While much of the studying that you will do while in college is completed independently, David Justin Miller notes that students should still make the effort to get the absolute most out of their lectures to ensure they have the highest chance of success. Consider all of these pointers if you want to be able to use your lesson time more effectively.

Get Rid Of Distractions

A couple of minutes of browsing the web or engaging in a text conversation is a couple of minutes that you aren’t spending paying attention to the lesson. Make sure that your phone is turned off during the course of the lecture, so that your focus is never drawn away from the points your teacher is making.

Stay Active

We have all been in lectures that struggle to hold our interest at one point or another, but that doesn’t mean that the information shared in them is unimportant. If you find yourself struggling to keep your concentration, make an active effort to take notes during the lesson. This will keep you engaged and also provide you with useful material for later study sessions.

Ask Questions

David Justin Miller points out that a lot of students are wary of asking questions during the course of the lesson, often for fear of interrupting the lecture. However, your time in the classroom is there to help you gain a better understanding of the subject, so if there is something that you are not sure about you should put your hand up and ask about it.
